Qualifed veterinary nurses (VNs) are finding an expanding role within veterinary practice. A recent amendment to the Veterinary Surgeons' Act has enabled them to take on many tasks within the practice which previously were limited to vets, and now a VN is permitted to carry out most tasks that you might expect to see a nurse doing when you visit your own GP or Hospital out-patients department.
In addition to this, there are also two further qualifications that a VN can attain, the Diplomas in Advanced Surgical or Medical Nursing.
